VOL. XLIX ALBANY, LINN COUNTY. OREGON, FRIDAY, OCTOBER 31, 191 No. 27. Ill ELECTIONS ROVE FARCE Huerla Remains in Control and Washington Sees no Ray of Hope in Results. DICTATOR SERVES UNTiL SUCCES303 ELECTED Congressman Will Declare Their Election Legal and Presidential Election Void. (By United Press Association) Mexico City, Oct. 27. The election re sr.lt eil as everyone expected. It was clear today that not enough votes j we; e east to elect a preident. The congressional candidates who received ' majorities arc expectd to declare' themselves elected with -the approval of President 11 una. When they de-: clare the presidntial, as distiuguishd from the congressional election, in valid, they will ask Ilueria to remain at the head of the Government until, another election is held, which will he whenever Huerta wants one. There are about three million vot ers in Mexico. The constitution re quires one third of the vote to be cast in order to make it a valid elec tion. Nothing like this number vot ed yesterday. The exact figures are not aavilable and will not be for some days owing to the disorganized means of communication. The reports indi cate that the election was quiet. Washington Not Satisfied. Washington, Oct. 27. Pleased as the administration was over the ab sence of any explosion in connection with the election, it candidly said that matters are now worse because Hu erta will be in control of Congress. Xo doubt it is felt in Washington that the Mexican Congress will up hold Huerta in any act of agression he may decide upon and in nullifying American attempts to improve condi tions. It is said that it is certain the Administration will refuse to recog nize Huerta or the authority of the illegally constituted Mexican Con' gress. S1THS DENY CHARGE THEY DEFRAUDED MOORE Filed an Answer This Morning to Complaint Against Them by W. B. Glass. Denying each and every allegation contained in the complaint except that an application was made in the county court by 13. C. Moore, and the proper proceedings were bad, Geo. H. Smith and Sarah M. Smith, as de fendants, filed an answer this morning to the complaint on file against them by W. B. Glass, as guardian of B. C. On April 2. 1913. it is claimed that he came to the home of Jie defendants and requested them o enter into a deal and exchange the lands owned by them and himself. Accordingly a contract was entered in 'o in which the trade was made sub ject to certain stipulations as to the mortgages.
